Xiaomi is rumored to be extending OS update support for three years and security updates for four years for Mi 11T and Mi 11T Pro users.
Xiaomi has again made a surprise for the loyal fans of their device. The Beijing, China-based company is rumored to be extending device update support.
In a recent announcement, when launching the Mi 11T and Mi 11T Pro, Xiaomi will introduce support for older OS updates and security updates. They provide support for up to three years of OS updates and four years of security updates.
Reporting from Engadget (September 10), that Xiaomi believes that this new update policy will give the phone a longer life and stay safe for a longer time. Users can also use their devices much longer.
This change in the renewal period puts the Chinese company on par with Samsung. They’ve also committed to provide four years of security updates and OS upgrades three times.
Unfortunately, not all devices will get this update. In a statement, for the time being, only the Mi 11T and Mi 11T Pro will get the OS upgrade update and security patch.
Fortunately, Xiaomi said that they would evaluate the possibility of extending this policy to more devices in the future. Hopefully, they will provide support for this update to more devices in the future.
