Qualcomm gaming SoCs – In a recent leak, Qualcomm is said to be preparing two new gaming SoCs for affordable smartphones.
Qualcomm seems to be currently preparing some new chipsets for gamers. This time, they are not focused on making a gaming SoC for flagship devices but for more affordable devices.
Interestingly, they will not only make one SoC but are preparing two new affordable gaming SoCs. According to the leak, the two SoCs will be named Snapdragon SM6375 and Snapdragon SM6225.
The Snapdragon SM6375 is an octa-core SoC with four Kryo Gold performance chipsets and four efficient Kryo Silver cores. Reported from Wccftech (September 14) that there are four SKUs with different configurations where the difference can be seen from the clock speed of the SoC.
Below is the SKUsis allegedly working on Qualcomm :
- 4x Gold cores at 2.5GHz + 4x Silver cores at 2.2GHz
- 4x Gold cores at 2.3GHz + 4x Silver cores at 2.1GHz
- 4x Gold cores at 2.2GHz + 4x Silver cores at 2.0GHz
- 4x Gold cores at 2.1GHz + 4x Silver cores at 1.8GHz
As for the GPU, there will be some differences between one SKU and another. The speed range is 800MHz, 940MHz, and 960MHz. The most interesting thing is that one of Qualcomm’s variants testing will support a 144Hz refresh rate.
However, the report does not mention the name SM6375. This means that it is still unknown whether this SoC will enter the Snapdragon 700 series or 600 series category until now.
Currently, what is known is that the SM6225 will be part of the Snapdragon 600 series. Qualcomm hasn’t released the technical specifications of the SM6225 chip yet, but currently, the SoC is being tested on a developer unit with a 90Hz FHD+ display, 6GB RAM, and 128GB UFS 2.2 flash storage.
