Panasonic – SC-GN01 is also equipped with Cinema mode. This is useful for those who prefer watching movies rather than playing games.
Panasonic has just launched speaker gaming wearable their first. Named SC-GN01, speaker gaming is designed to be worn around the neck and is claimed to provide realistic surround sound from the 4 full-range speakers inside.
Like the HTB01 gaming soundbar from Panasonic announced in January, the new wearable speaker was designed in collaboration with Tokyo-based Square Enix, creators of the Final Fantasy gaming franchise.
Reporting from What Hifi (August 26), the collaboration allows gamers to have 3 game-specific audio modes. First-Person Shooter mode provides accurate audio location, so users can hear enemies approaching. Voice Mode enhances the dialogue. The Role-Playing Game mode is optimized for playing Final Fantasy XIV online.
SC-GN01 is also equipped with Cinema mode. This is useful for those who prefer watching movies rather than playing games. Don’t miss the Music and Stereo modes for more sound presets. This speaker from Panasonic charges via the USB-C port, but it’s not yet known how long the battery will last from a full state.
The Japanese company claims that the SC-GN01 is comfortable enough to be worn around the neck for long periods. Since these are not ear-covering headphones, there is no burning sensation in the ears like most gaming headsets.
There are also dual noise-canceling and echo-canceling microphones. Therefore, these headphones promise a clear chat with friends online. In-game conversations will also be heard even though the four surround speakers are active.
This wearable gaming speaker from Panasonic is nothing new. The reason is, Sony had also launched a similar neck speaker a few years ago. The Sony SRS-WS1 offers sound and vibration to get users into the games, movies, or concerts they’re watching on TV.
The Panasonic SC-GN01 is compatible with PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The price offered for this speaker is GBP 160.
