Sony’s PlayStation 5 game console is rumored to be coming with a more compact variant through the PS5 Slim. It has been a few years since Sony launched the PlayStation 5 (PS5) game console. Now, a new rumor reports that the company is preparing to introduce a slim (Slim) version of the latest generation of game consoles.
A report from The Leak claims that Sony will launch the PS5 Slim console in the third quarter of 2023. However, it is possible that the device will not have the word ‘Slim’ in its name.
Reporting from Gizmochina (November 8), the upcoming game console is also claimed to be lighter and cooler than the initial PS5 version. Furthermore, it is said that the Japanese company is working on a solution to eliminating the PS5 stand requirement when the system is placed horizontally.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about a new version of PS5 set to launch in 2023. Previously, reports were claiming that Sony was working on launching a new PS5 model with a removable disk drive.
The PS5 was launched several years ago, but potential customers still face shortage issues and can’t get the device easily. Even though stock availability has increased, people can’t just walk into a store and buy a PS5 game console, they have to get it at a higher price than suggested.
The development comes after Sony recently raised PS5 prices in various regions, including Europe, the UK, Japan, and more, citing high global inflation rates and a downward currency trend as reasons for the increase.
