Netflix gets Spatial Audio support on iPhone and iPad

Spatial Audio support is now available on the iPhone and iPad versions of the Netflix app, available on AirPods Pro and Max.

Netflix just confirmed Spatial Audio support is now available on the versions of the iPhone and iPad app. This support allows users to have a more immersive and immersive sound experience with directional audio filters.

Reporting from 9to5Mac (August 19), a Netflix spokesperson confirmed the company is starting to roll out Spatial Audio support on iPhones and iPads with iOS 14. Before confirmation, the news was first reported by Reddit users and iGeneration reports.

To use Apple’s Spatial Audio support, you must use AirPods Pro and AirPods Max on iPhone and iPad. Because the two earbuds are designed to make users feel more immersed thanks to the impressive surround effect.

Apple says Spatial Audio is an immersive experience using directional audio filters to play sound anywhere. This will place the right surround channels in the right place, even when the user turns or moves the device. In addition, the buttons for managing Spatial Audio are located in the Control Center.

If you haven’t seen Spatial Audio in the Netflix iPhone and iPad app, make sure you have the latest version in the App Store and keep checking for updates over the coming weeks. The company says this feature will be rolled out in stages.

When iOS 15 launches, Spatial Audio support will take you to a higher comfort level, with the new Spatialize Stereo option. It simulates the Spatial Audio experience for non-Dolby Atmos content.
