LG Successfully Tests 6G Network with Terahertz Spectrum

LG has announced a breakthrough in its research on 6G network technology. The company is said to have successfully demonstrated 6G data transmission technology using the Terahertz spectrum. The 6G milestone is a culmination between LG and one of the firms research Europe’s leading, Germany-based Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.

The South Korean company said the achievement was made in Berlin, Germany, when it succeeded in transmitting data outdoors for a distance of 100 meters. The company has also developed a new power amplifier with the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft that helps provide a stable 6G signal in the Terahertz spectrum. Reporting from Gizmochina (August 20), the amplifier can provide a maximum output signal of 15 dBm to achieve stable communication in the 155-175 GHz band.

In addition, LG has also developed adaptive beamforming technology and high-gain antenna switching for 6G communications. Innovations and products will increase research on 6G network technology, as LG strives to keep the distance between itself and its competitors.

Indeed, the pursuit of research around the next generation of wireless communication technologies has been intense. Huawei has also shown progress in research on 6G technology. It is projected that commercial deployment of 6G technology will take place in 2029, while standardization talks begin in 2025.

6G networks offer reliable super-fast internet connectivity with lower latency. Many applications can be achieved seamlessly using 6G networks, which is still difficult even with 5G.
