In Vishal’s internal memo reported by BuzzFeed News via Insider, this was done because they found many young people who were creating through the platform.
“Instagram has identified youth work as a top priority for Instagram,” said Vishal.
This step is one of the company’s focuses in building new youth pillars in the Community Product Group. Vishal added by creating a special Instagram version for people under the age of 13. Will provide safe use for the first time. Currently, the Instagram policy prohibits children under 13 from using the app. However, they can still manage with an account in the name of their parents. Therefore, Instagram Kids can later be controlled by parents, just like Messenger Kids.
“More and more minors are asking their parents if they can join an app that helps them stay connected with their friends. Currently, there are not many options for parents. So we are developing additional products – just like we do. with Messenger Kids. And which is suitable for children, managed by parents,” said a Facebook spokesperson.
