Garmin has just released the series smartwatch through the Fenix 7 series in the US. This smartwatch has three models, namely the Fenix 7, Fenix 7S, and Fenix 7X. This new series comes with solar charging, L5 GPS, and an LED flashlight. In addition to the Fenix 7 series, the company also launched the Epix Gen 2 smartwatch. The Garmin Fenix 7 is the standard model priced at USD 700, the Fenix 7S is priced at USD 900, and the premium Fenix 7X is priced at USD 1,000. On the other hand, the Garmin Epix is priced at USD 899 for the glass surface and steel frame, while the variant with the sapphire surface and titanium frame is priced at USD 999.
Gizmochina (January 19) reports that the Garmin Fenix 7 has the smallest dial of the three, measuring 42 mm. The Fenix 7S measures 47 mm, while the Fenix 7X has the largest dial at 51 mm.
All three Fenix 7 series come with solar charging support and are claimed to have 54% more solar charging surface area than its predecessor, the Fenix 6X Pro. Therefore, this latest smartwatch also provides better battery life. The Fenix 7 series comes with the L5 GPS frequency range, offering better GPS signal accuracy. For the record, L5 is the new GPS signal for civilian color and offers a sophisticated signal design, greater bandwidth, and more power which ultimately offers higher accuracy.
The Fenix 7 will offer an estimated battery life of 136 hours to 286 hours when GPS is turned on. The Fenix 7S will offer a maximum of 90 hours or 162 hours of battery life. On the other hand, the Fenix 7X will provide 213 hours or 578 hours of sunlight. This is the approximate battery life. However, Garmin claims the battery can last up to 37 days on the Fenix 7X.
Fenix 7X also comes with an LED flashlight feature, where this lamp can emit bright white light and red light. This variant also has a strobe mode for emergencies. The Epix Gen 2 comes in a 47mm dial and has a battery life of up to 16 days. The Epix has some features similar to the Fenix 7 series but lacks an LED flashlight and does not support solar charging. The Epix has OLED, an always-on 1.3-inch display, and offers six days of battery life.
