Facebook Onward – Facebook has reportedly just completed the acquisition of the game developer Onward, Downpour Interactive, which will operate under the Oculus Studios stable.
Facebook seems to be getting fiercer in bringing games to their VR headset platform lately. This is shown by the increasing number of games that VR devices produced by Oculus can play.
This time, they have made an acquisition of one of the popular VR games, Onward. They will bring the game to their internal game development team, namely Oculus Studios stable.
This is not the first time Facebook has acquired a VR game creation company. Previously, they had received When the creators of Beat Saber, Beat Games, Sanzaru Games, and Ready at Dawn. They started making acquisitions since 2019.
Unfortunately, Engadget (2/5) reports no official report regarding how much Facebook must pay to bring the Downpour Interactive team into the Oculus development team. Both of them are still silent about this matter.
The acquisition is said not to disturb users on other platforms and makes this game exclusive to Oculus devices. Gamers will continue to get support for Onward games on all existing platforms.
As is known, Onward first came out as an early access game in 2016 and then on the Steam platform. Since then, the game has received a very good response from VR game lovers around the world.
With this financial support from Facebook, Downpour also plans to start working on new projects. And although they didn’t share a leak about their project, they hope to allow all gamers to play their game in the future.
