Analyst: Foldable iPhone won’t arrive until 2023

Based on previous reports, Apple’s foldable iPhone will come with an 8-inch flexible OLED display.

While Apple continues to launch theseries iPhone with some technological improvements compared to the previous generation model, the Cupertino-based company has yet to launch a foldable phone, a category that Samsung currently dominates. However, based on various reports, the tech company is rumored to be working on a foldable iPhone that is expected to be released in 2023. Now, a new report from analyst Ross Young claims that while the foldable iPhone doesn’t launch until 2023, it will most likely launch in 2024.

Reporting from Gizmochina (December 14), Apple has been working on a prototype of this new phone, which is evident from the fact that Samsung has supplied samples of its foldable screen to Apple for testing. It is also reported that the US company is working with LG Display.

Based on previous reports, Apple’s foldable iPhone will come with an 8-inch flexible OLED display. Earlier this year, Bloomberg had reported that the company had started working on the new device, but its work has so far been limited to screens only. While Apple is years away from launching its first commercial foldable phone, rival Samsung has already established its position in the market and currently dominates with several different buying models.

Huawei even has several foldable phones on the market, with the new Huawei P50 Pocket set to launch on December 23 officially. Other Chinese companies such as Xiaomi have already launched the Mi Mix Fold, while OPPO will be launching the Find N this December 15th.
