Analyst AMD – An analyst firm, Mercury Research, reports AMD currently has the upper hand, with another milestone in the x86 CPU market share.
In the report, AMD is said to have achieved the 2nd highest market share since Q4 2006. Of course, this is a very big achievement for them after Intel dominates the industry market share.
Mercury Research said AMD had worked very hard to get to where they are now. And all this success started when they introduced Zen architecture.
AMD has successfully launched two CPU lines, namely Ryzen and EPYC, through this architecture. And now, Mercury Research reports AMD has achieved a 24.6% market share over the last quarter, as Wccftech reports (November 5).
The highest market share ever achieved by AMD was in Q4 2006 at 25.3%. This means they are only 0.7% different from the record x86 market share.
Not only that, sales of processors in the notebook segment reached an all-time high. They managed to carve the x86 notebook market share of 16.2%. Meanwhile, Ryzen and EPYC are at 22%.
